Goldsboro Fire Department Maintains ISO Class 2 Rating
The Goldsboro Fire Department is proud to announce that our ISO (Insurance Services Office) Public Protection Classification (PPC) rating has once again been confirmed as a Class 2. This rating reflects our department’s continued dedication to excellence in fire protection services, training, equipment, and emergency response.
What Does an ISO Rating Mean?
The ISO rating is a nationwide standard that evaluates the effectiveness of municipal fire protection efforts in communities across the country. The scale ranges from Class 1 (the highest possible rating) to Class 10. A Class 2 rating places Goldsboro among the top 5% of fire departments in the nation.
The rating is determined based on:
-
Emergency communications systems
-
Fire department capabilities (staffing, training, equipment, and response times)
-
Water supply availability and capacity
-
Community risk reduction efforts, including fire prevention and education
What This Means for Our Community
Maintaining a Class 2 ISO rating is a direct reflection of the professionalism and preparedness of the Goldsboro Fire Department. But more importantly, it offers real-world benefits to our community:
-
Potentially Lower Insurance Premiums: Many insurance providers use ISO ratings to help set property insurance rates. A better rating can mean cost savings for homeowners and businesses.
-
Enhanced Public Safety: This rating confirms that Goldsboro residents and businesses are protected by a department that meets high national standards.
-
Commitment to Excellence: It reaffirms our continuous efforts to improve service delivery, invest in training, and work closely with city departments and community partners.
We thank our firefighters, leadership team, city officials, and citizens who support our mission every day. This achievement is a community success, and we are honored to serve with pride, integrity, and professionalism.
